A Brief History
The League circa 2016 at the Draft in Wichita, KS.
It all started back in 2012. We were the Tiger League then. Just six dudes who wanted to spend our time doing the best thing. We’ve come a long way since then. We’ve had 5 champs (some more legit than others) and a lot has happened along the way. Here are some interesting tidbits that I feel should be brought back to life.
We’ll start with what is now lovingly referred to as “The Tiger League.”
The Tiger League began in 2012, our freshman year of high school. There were only 6 of us, and we didn’t take it all that seriously, hence the asterisk next to Christian’s name on the championship trophy. What happened that season isn’t the important part. The important part was that we decided to add 2 more in order to make it more competitive. The Tiger League has been lost to the passage of time, and we will probably never gain access to those statistics (Sorry Roush), but it was the continuation of the League that has made it special.
When Riley and I first tossed around the idea of a fantasy football league, we had a goal in mind. The original goal of the league was this: Each member should be comfortable hanging out with any other member of the league alone, for an extended period of time. Embarrassing and silly, I know, but it is important to recognize that back then social status was everything. The League was sacred and has lasted the test of time, and so far, the test of distance.
At this time, after the end of the 2016 season, the League is going just as strong as ever, despite 10 members attending 4 colleges and living in numerous different cities. The League as an entity is something to be proud of and I’m happy to be a part of it.
But enough of the sappy stuff, the real Bible gets pretty crazy at times, so I think it’s time to change gears and get into some real League business. We’ll start with reflecting on all the accessible seasons in fantasy. We’ve had a lot of close games, one winner being decided on a kneel down to end a game, and the incredible competition of the League keeps us all coming back.
