The League Preseason Rankings

according to Jack…

Here’s the deal. I’m sitting here at work and I am stony bologna. Like blazed. The only reasonable thing to do during this midnight-6 am shift is to write my very own, opinionated preseason fantasy rankings. I plan to rank each team one to ten, starting with 10 and going to 1, followed by a short explanation for their rankings.

From now on each power rankings will include a playoff and record prediction list as well.

This is opinionated so don’t bitch about it being biased.

The Rankings:

10. Bryce

There is a lot wrong with Bryce’s team including him fully embracing his team’s white supremacist persona. I don’t think McCaffrey is going to pan out the way Bryce thinks he is, and Rob Gronkowski is no longer the fantasy anomaly he used to be. Aside from his respectable receiving core and a decent QB, his team just looks incomplete. He doesn’t have the pieces to obtain and sustain wins right now.

9. Kendall

I started the controversy early. This is a weird pick for me because I think Kendall has a solid lineup, just uneven. The best player in fantasy and possibly the best QB, but weak elsewhere. I like Mark Ingram and Amari Cooper but Dalvin Cook is a no go. Kendall has a lot of players that can perform very well, I just don’t think they will.

8. Julian

The sweet name change and quirkiness of his picks gives me a little more confidence in Julian’s team than I should have. Derek Carr was a gem where Julian got him in the draft and the Lynch Pryor combo is one that could tank or carry a team. I think Julian likely finishes better than we all think, but less likely to win week one.

7. Roush

You thought you were slick huh, You thought you could dress up as Jason Garrett for the season and make playoffs but nah. Trevor ended up playing you with the trade, but nonetheless you have some assets. Michael Thomas and Joe Mixon both seem promising and while I’m not a fan of Russell Wilson he usually does well. I don’t see you beating me week one without Zeke.

6. Kyle

Two major pieces in Luck and Hyde seem to be riddled with injuries and while Tyrod Taylor is a suitable backup there’s not much depth at RB. Leonard Fournette is promising and of course Antonion Brown is a given but I don’t see Brandin Cooks fitting in in New England. Very respectable team but I think moves must be made to get to the next level.

5. Brandon

I like the Mike Evans/Jordy Nelson duo a lot and you can’t go wrong with Aaron Rodgers. Because of the teams they are on, I don’t see any of his running backs panning out exceptionally well but what he has should be enough for a respectable showing. Not to mention Samaje Perine and Martavis Bryant are two steals that could pay off later.

4. Jack

I will be the first to admit that my receivers are trash but other than that I don’t see a lot of holes. Well balanced with RB carrying most of the weight allows for a low floor but also a low ceiling. I see myself as perhaps the most balanced team this season, but as always if I can’t score big sometimes the wins won’t be there.

3. Josh

After the Oprah Winfrey give away from Julian, Josh saw himself atop the league’s finest yet again. Arguably the best running back core with Bell and Gordon and consistently above average elsewhere. Josh has the star player with Bell but to me it seems that his significant supporting cast is limited. Playoffs for sure, first round bye tho…?

2. Riley

Another team largely benefitting from the Julian giveaway, Riley’s season was given a jumpstart when he landed Julio Jones. This allowed him to pick Jordan Howard early and his tandem was created. Again no weak spots really, but I see his RB2 and WR2 lagging far behind the starters. All around impressive with a star studded roster and tons of house hold names.

1.Trevor

After what I think will be the finesse of the year, Trevor dropped Zeke to balance out his roster with a full lineup of solid starters. CJ Anderson and Todd Gurley seem questionable to me but I can see everyone else scoring double digits week in week out. Being Trevor he will blow it, but the most impressive team out the gate for me.

Playoff and Record Predictions:

  1. Trevor (9-4)

  2. Riley (8-5)

  3. Josh (7-6)

  4. Julian (7-6)

  5. Jack (7-6)

  6. Kendall (6-7)

  7. Brandon (6-7)

  8. Roush (6-7)

  9. Kyle (5-8)

  10. Bryce (4-9)
