WEEKLY REVIEW
In a week of extremes, five teams scored their lowest total of the season and two others scored their highest. Of the higher scorers, Kyle was the most impressive, totaling 188.8 points and demolishing this season’s previous record set by Alex. Aside from Josh continuing to set himself apart, the standings remain clustered, with everyone still in the hunt for a playoff spot. However, a loss for any of the four 1-3 teams could seal their fate, making my week five matchup with Mason particularly interesting. Another one to watch will be the juggernaut showdown of Alex and Josh, both vying for first in the standings and likely next week’s power rankings. It should be a good week for football, and I am excited to see how the tables turn.
Tier 1: Rounding out the top three for this week are Kyle, Alex and Josh. In full honesty, I found every possible ordering of these teams to be viable, but some slight advantages affected the final decision. Scoring 21 more points than the next highest total this season, Kyle’s squad put up insane numbers and demanded attention. With Nick Chubb and the New England defense coming on at the right time, Kyle’s high score and three game win streak propelled him to first in scoring and this week’s rankings. Despite losing in week two, Alex has outscored Josh for two weeks running and currently sits at second in scoring. The return of Melvin Gordon makes an already formidable roster more dangerous, giving the slight edge to Alex over Josh. Needless to say, Josh’s perfect season thus far has been extremely impressive, but his propensity to leave points on the bench has hindered his total scoring. I have no doubt he will continue to improve his record, but with heavy punchers all around it will take more than that for him to top the rankings once again.
Tier 2: In the middle of the pack sit Brandon, Bryce, and Trevor, with Brandon defeating Trevor head to head and Bryce falling valiantly to Kyle. Despite relatively low scoring at 112.1 PPG, Brandon beat Bryce last week and Trevor this week to improve to 2-2. Although his roster leaves something to be desired, the win streak and head to head victories give him the edge in this week’s rankings. Getting 59.9 points from his RBs, Bryce put up an impressive 145.9 points in week four to move into fourth in scoring. Now with two weeks scoring over 140, his week two misstep is looking more like a fluke and I expect him to remain competitive going forward. Now at 2-2 and last in scoring, Trevor’s steady decline has led him to sixth in this week’s rankings. Also, Juju had three receptions and 15 yards. An interesting trade with Alex has modeled his new roster after the Kansas City Chiefs, a team his name now pays homage to. Hopefully he can turn the skid around in week five against his roommate Kendall.
Tier 3: Rounding out the bottom are Julian, Kendall, Mason, and myself. With a mere 89.1 points, Julian defeated the hot garbage pile that is my team and is now 2-2. Interestingly, Julian, Kendall, and I are all within 0.2 PPG of one another, but Julian’s week four victory pushed him ahead. Now on a three game skid, some unfortunate roster moves led Kendall to 73.2 points and a loss to Josh. Assuming he can start guys in games, he has a solid opportunity against an ailing Trevor squad to turn the season around and remain in the hunt. Scoring under 110 points for the third time this season, Mason fell to Alex in week four and is now 1-3. With only a few positions locked up with solid starters, I expect Mason to make some roster moves before the week is out. On the bright side, he is facing the shit stain of the league in week five and should be able to prevail. I am absolute garbage.
THIS WEEK’S CAKED TAKES
Bringing you three unlikely hot takes from someone stoned to the bone.
Melvin Gordon and Zeke both fall flat as Alex scores under 120 and Josh moves to 5-0.
Phillip Lindsay and Travis Kelce combine for 35+ and Kendall hands Trevor his third straight loss.
Kyle puts up 150 again and retains first in next week’s rankings.
