WEEKLY REVIEW
Trevor- With an impressive win over perennial powerhouse Josh, Trevor’s 2017 team has transcended its “good start” label and solidified itself as one of the best ever through five weeks. He was able to dodge a bye week loss by getting an unlikely quality performance from Phillip Rivers and A.J. Green’s monster game. With Freeman, Ryan, and Anderson back, it’s hard to see him falling to Riley, or really anyone, going forward.
Kyle- With the second highest scoring performance of the season this week, Kyle has moved into the Big Boy’s Club (BBBTM) and it appears he is here to stay. With a roster almost too good to be true, Kyle is poised to score triple digits week in and week out. However, at 3-2 he is amongst a four-way tie for second, with three teams only a game behind him. Kyle is in a good spot but as the pack begins to disperse in the coming weeks he needs to keep winning to come out on top.
Brandon- After a week five loss to Julian (*esketit from the back), Brandon falls to 3-2, stuck in the pack with the rest of us fantasy football plebs. While Trevor has asserted himself superior, Brandon and Kyle are neck and neck, with the edge given to Kyle for his 131 W this week. While Brandon is no longer contending for number one, Trevor, Kyle, and himself are the only three teams I see with a solidified playoff spot. With Zeke, Russell Wilson, Charles Clay, and Dan Bailey on bye for Alex this week, Brandon might need to call the clean up crew from John Wick Monday night.
Josh- Hot takes coming faster than Brandon at TU camp. After his apparent turnaround, Josh has averaged 96.9 points over the last two weeks and does not show signs of slowing down. Despite his loss to 5-0 Trevor, Josh’s lineup continues to progress towards their full potential with a nice RB stable and a slew of playable WRs. With Baldwin and McCoy on bye, Josh faces a tough in-house opponent in Kyle this week. Expect Josh to put up 90 in a losing effort to Kyle’s loaded lineup.
Riley- Another win against the shit bag that is my fantasy team moves Riley to 3-2 and a two-game winning streak. Despite comparatively low scoring, Riley has found ways to win and in the end, that is what matters. Josh got the edge with his higher score and generally more impressive roster this week, but sometime down the road the wins will speak for themselves.
Alex- The week after his highest score, Alex put up his lowest, a disappointing 62.5 (less than half of his opponent’s score). This could have been helped if his defense did not score negative seven, but he needs major improvement at RB2, and with Zeke’s future now uncertain, his problems will only get worse. His receiving core is above average, but not enough to carry his team. We will see what kind of waiver moves he makes, but Brandon awaits week 6.
Julian- Gradual progress led to Julian’s first win this week over Brandon, cracking 100 behind a balanced attack led by the none other than the Dolphins D. A big trade gave Julian Jay Ajayi this week, and now that he’s not on my team he should actually score points. The future is bright for Juju, and with 8 games left nothing is out of the question.
Bryce- Bryce bounced back with a win over Kendall, but unfortunately for him his win was not as big as Julian’s. He is 7th in scoring and in the hunt at 2-3, but with Odell out his team’s potential is limited. Rumors say he was trying to trade OBJ as a keeper option, a good idea, but real moves should be his focus as he goes forward. Bryce is in the same position as the other 7 teams in the middle, the first five weeks do not matter anymore and if you win you will make playoffs. 🡨 That’s me stating the obvious but it’s true.
Jack- If I am being honest I don’t want to talk about my team. I do this for you guys. My team sucks because it’s my team, not because of the players on it but because it is associated with my name and they know if they suck it will hurt my feelings every week.
Kendall- Teams still really enjoy beating Kendall for whatever reason. Kendall’s roster is better than his record, and I have always believed that eventually wins and losses will gravitate towards the quality of your roster, but not if everyone just keeps dropping points on him. With Zeke and Odell no longer fantasy factors, I think there will be a sizeable shift in the standings in the next three weeks or so. Assuming Kendall keeps making smart start/sits he has a chance to climb the ranks.
