WEEKLY REVIEW
Kyle- After another triple digit win, Kyle has finally surpassed Trevor to take over the top spot in thiweek’s Power Rankings. Averaging 9 more PPG than second place Brandon and nearly 13 more than Trevor, Kyle’s team has been the epitome of offensive production and does not show signs of slowing down. Now only a game behind the lead, Kyle looks to capitalize on an easy schedule facing Kendall, Julian, and myself over the next three weeks. While anything is possible, I see Kyle getting the one seed and first round bye.
Trevor- After an incredible start, Trevor has dropped two of his last three, scoring only 75.8 PPG in that span. A league best 6-2 record will be enough to land Trevor a playoff spot, but the downward trend is not promising. His lineup still has the firepower to win games, but maybe it’s time he started paying attention to the waivers and making some moves, something he has not felt the need to do previously. With tough matchups ahead of him, Trevor will be playing for a bye for the rest of the season, only time will tell.
Alex- At 5-3, Alex is part of the three-way tie for second place. 4th in scoring, Alex’s team has been performing well over the last few weeks, primarily fueled by Zeke’s explosive production. With recent developments in his suspension being upheld and a trade for Doug Martin, Alex’s new look lineup hopes to win at least two more games to clinch his spot in playoffs. Losing Zeke will be a tremendous hit, but with Hopkins and now Martin, it looks like Alex will be able to hop his way to a low seed at the least.
Riley- Perhaps the most improved team throughout the season, Riley won in big fashion scoring 122 points to defeat Brandon. Now 5-3 and tied for second place, Riley is in a great position to make playoffs. With Deshaun and company going forward, I expect at least 90 points a game and the two wins he needs to clinch. However, I stand by my statement that he just does not have the scoring to compete with Kyle, Trevor, and Brandon. We shall see in playoffs.
Brandon- Despite putting up 91 points, Brandon lost to Riley in a decisive matchup. Now 4-4, his fall from grace is complete and he has a new low in power rankings to match. While 4-4 is nothing to scoff at, there are still 9 teams in playoff contention and Brandon is far from locked in. With a lineup that has continued to digress through the season, Brandon’s future is uncertain, but picking up Jay Ajayi and having a good team name should help his efforts.
Josh- In a subpar performance from everyone whose name does not start with L, Josh lost to Kendall this week in an equalizing matchup that put them both at 3-5. His record does not show it, but Josh is 5th in scoring, diminished by the fact that he is 1st in points against. For whatever reason, whether it be karma or just bad luck, Josh’s team has not been able to find wins. Considering he has a talented lineup and consistent scoring, logically he should win a few more games, but with only five weeks left he will need to perform exceptionally well to make playoffs.
Bryce- Although his kicker scored 20 plus for the second week in a row, Bryce’s WRs and TE combined for just over 5 points in a blowout loss to Kyle. At a respectable 4-4, Bryce is still in the thick of the playoff hunt, but then again so is everyone else. With Jordan Howard and Hunter Henry on bye against Riley in week 9, Bryce will need to pull something out of his hat to get the W. Looking at his lineup shows promise, but an obvious deficiency at WR after losing OBJ for the season still haunts him.
Kendall- Another team on the rise, Kendall has won 2 of his last 3 and positioned himself as more than a spoiler threat. Led by Tom Brady and a three-headed RB core, Kendall has potential to score points each week in hopes that his opponent falters. However, with Brady and McKinnon on bye this week against Kyle, his chances of a W look bleak. Falling to 2-6 would be all but preclusive to Kendall’s playoff hopes, but I beat Trevor this week so anything can happen.
Jack- If my team is anything, it is the streakiest team there ever was, and now that my losing streak is over be on the lookout for #ComebackSZN. Coming soon to a playoff near you.
Julian- Julian’s team has continued to show improvement from the beginning of the season, but unfortunately has not been generating Ws. A respectable 89.5 was simply outmatched by Alex’s 127.5 point outing, but after trading Jay Ajayi Julian looks to make the leap. Playoff chances aside, Julian is a threat in any matchup and will likely spoil one or two seasons in the next five weeks. Plus if he wins out he gets a shot at the ship.
