WEEKLY REVIEW
Trevor- After falling to Kyle in week two, Trevor bounced back with a 131.9-point blowout of Brandon in week three. With above average performances from everyone excluding Gronk and Golden Tate, Trevor’s team posted more than 120 points for the third consecutive week. Averaging the most PPG by a 9.8-point margin, his squad shows no signs of slowing down and no one else is close. An interesting aspect of Trevor’s success stems from how the keeper rule has enabled him to retain a powerful lineup from last season through the draft and into this year. It seems that we have our first league dynasty centered around the manipulation of rules as opposed to week to week fantasy skills.
Riley- I am not afraid to say that I was definitely a hater. After posting an impressive 135.7 points in week one, Riley slipped with 98.8 in a losing effort to Alex in week two. I was convinced that his whole team was a sham and his high week one output could not be replicated, that is until he led all scorers in week three with 138.9 points. Second in PPG and tied with five other teams at 2-1, Riley is sitting pretty so far in 2018. It seems he has it figured out so far, and the potential return of Leveon Bell to an NFL roster makes his team that much more dangerous.
Josh- Perhaps the most consistent team so far this season, Josh won in week two behind a strong showing from the Bears defense and Davante Adams before losing a close one to Alex in week three. Yet to drop below 100 points, Josh’s team has shown an extremely high floor with a lot of interchangeable pieces that can produce. Now that the likelihood of Leveon returning to the Steelers is slim to none, James Conner should continue to be a viable RB2 and the return of Mark Ingram next week makes his lineup that much more intimidating. With what should be an easy win over Bryce in week four, Josh will move to 3-1 and be in good position to push for sole position of first place in the coming weeks.
Brandon- At fourth in PPG and with a lowest score of 103.5, it is hard to believe that through three weeks Brandon is 1-2. With an average PAPG of 122.2, Brandon has simply been getting screwed, but alas, here is your Power Rankings respect. Despite his record and unfortunate matchups thus far, Brandon’s lineup still has a lot of high ceiling threats that could win him games on any given week. Unfortunately for him, he has hit a brick wall named Jack in week four. Although certainly not preclusive, falling to 1-3 would be a tough hole to dig himself out of going forward so he could really use a W this week.
Jack- I want to get this done so I am not going to write about my team. But I am like a little bit above average which is cool.
Kyle- Nobody sleep in Kyle’s team’s bed, it smells like shit. After the lowest scoring performance of week three, Kyle lost his opportunity to start 3-0 and sits at 2-1 with the rest of the pack. Assuming Kirk Cousins does not sabotage his chances of winning again, Kyle’s roster still has the pieces necessary to pull off some wins. Although he is strong at WR, Fournette’s lingering injury and a wasted draft pick in Lesean McCoy leaves him vulnerable at RB. Kyle will need to make some waiver pickups or trades to get his team to the next tier.
Alex- After I declared him last in the first edition of Power Rankings, Alex has come back strong with two wins in two weeks over top teams Josh and Riley. Outside of Aaron Rodgers and Zeke, Alex’s lineup has a lot of players that are close in production levels, leaving him some tough start/sit decisions to make. This was apparent in his week three win over Josh, leaving four players on the bench that outscored his starters. With a week four matchup against an up and down Kendall team, Alex has the opportunity to make a complete turnaround by starting 3-1.
Kendall- With a bizarre win over myself thanks to Evan Engram in week two and a loss at the hands of Riley in week three, Kendall sits at 1-2 just outside of last place Julian. Although he picked up Javorius Allen off waivers, Kendall’s lineup is still lacking at RB despite having a solid receiving core. Ranging from 88.2 to 119.6, it seems like his team could land anywhere on the spectrum, which can be both positive and negative. With a matchup of the comebacks, Kendall faces Alex in week four hoping to avoid falling to a disappointing 1-3.
Bryce- I am glad you figured out how to text us again. Bryce picked up his first win of the season in week three as the remaining winless teams battled to the death. Sitting at ninth in PPG, Bryce’s lineup just does not seem to have the firepower to contend with high scoring opponents. Aside from McCaffrey and Brown, Bryce needs some more pieces to start securing more wins. With a tough matchup against Josh in week four, Bryce will need to hope for some big-time games from his guys.
Julian- At 0-3, Julian sits in sole position at last place in the LeagueTM. After an unfortunate injury to the man Jimmy G, Julian replaced him with Deshaun Watson for this week’s showdown with Trevor. Although it is taking some time, I have confidence that he will make the right moves to get himself back in the mix.
